The person behind Guest House Audio, and the partner behind your next great mix.
"At Guest House Audio, your music isn't just another project - it's an honored guest. I treat every track with the care, attention, and expertise it deserves."
Joshua Guest, Founder
I didn't start Guest House Audio because I'm the most technically skilled mixing engineer in the world (though I've spent years honing my craft). I started it because I was tired of seeing artists treated like transactions.
I've been on both sides of this. As a musician, I sent my tracks to engineers who never asked what the song meant to me, who delivered mixes that technically "worked" but emotionally missed the mark, who made me feel like I was bothering them when I asked questions.
As an engineer, I watched the industry move toward faster, cheaper, more impersonal service. Racing to the bottom. Treating art like an assembly line.
"And I thought: there has to be another way."
Guest House Audio was born from a simple belief - that the artists who trust you with their music deserve more than competence. They deserve partnership. They deserve to feel heard, valued, and genuinely cared for throughout the process.
That's what I've built here. Not just a mixing service, but a space where artists feel welcome, where their vision matters more than my ego, where communication is never rushed and care is never rationed.
This is personal for me. Every track that comes through Guest House Audio represents someone's art, someone's story, someone's vulnerability. That's not something I take lightly.
Here's what you need to know about how I work.
I'm not here to impose my sound on your music. I'm here to find YOUR sound and make it shine. That means every EQ decision, every compression choice, every reverb setting serves your vision - not my resume.
I've never understood engineers who hide behind technical jargon or make artists feel stupid for asking questions. If you don't understand something, that's on me to explain better. If something's not working, that's on us to figure out together. No ego, no gatekeeping - just honest conversation.
Yes, I care deeply about phase coherence, frequency balance, dynamic range, and all the technical details that make a mix sound professional. But technique is meaningless if it doesn't serve the emotion you're trying to convey. I never mix with my eyes (staring at meters - I mix with my ears and my gut, always asking "does this feel right?"
Every artist is different. Every song demands something unique. I don't have a "signature sound" I force onto everything. I have tools, experience, and instincts - and I use them to serve whatever your music is asking for.
I've been working with audio for over 10 years, starting as a musician trying to capture my own songs, then falling in love with the technical and creative challenges of mixing and mastering.
My journey began with a First Class Honours degree in Music Technology from the University of West London, which laid the foundation for my technical expertise. From there, I've toured across the UK with various bands, performing at renowned venues including Westland Studios Dublin, Ronnie Scott's jazz bar, and Surya.
I've studied under incredible mentors, spent countless hours learning from engineers I admire, and mixed hundreds of tracks across virtually every genre. The music I've worked on has generated over 6 million streams, featuring collaborations with artists like Powfu, Thxrnhill, Kingdom of Crows, and many more. But the real education came from working with artists - learning to listen not just to the tracks, but to the person behind them.
I work in a professionally treated mixing environment with calibrated monitoring and industry-standard tools. But more important than the gear is the care and attention I bring to every project.
Music is my life, but it's not my whole life. When I'm not behind the console, you'll find me catching wrestling shows in London whenever they come around - I'm a bit of a fanatic. I also love spending quality time with my family, especially my newborn son Grayson, and socialising with friends over a pint.
I believe the best mixing engineers are people with full lives, diverse interests, and empathy developed outside the studio. That perspective makes me a better listener, a better collaborator, and a better partner for your music.
You're not a client number. You're a guest in my creative home, and I treat you accordingly.
This is collaboration, not a service transaction. Your input matters, your questions are welcome, and your satisfaction is everything.
No hidden fees, no confusing jargon, no ghosting. You'll always know where we stand and why I'm making the decisions I'm making.
If I'm not the right fit for your project, I'll tell you honestly and recommend someone who is. Your success matters more than booking another project.
I'm constantly learning, always refining my craft, never resting on "good enough." Your music deserves my best, always evolving self.
Every mix receives my full attention and expertise. I never cut corners or rush the process - your music deserves nothing less than excellence.
I'm an open book. If you have questions about my process, my background, or whether Guest House Audio is right for your project, I'd love to hear from you.
The Welcome Call is free, no-pressure, and honestly one of my favorite parts of this work - hearing about artists' music and their journey. Even if we don't end up working together, I'll do my best to offer helpful guidance.
