The Story

From a 10 track album I recorded for Kingdom Of Crows. Recorded at Westland Studios in Dublin and mixed and mastered at my home studio. Started with a couple of in person meetings with Stephen and a tour of the studio and then planning took place of instrumentation of each track and production notes were created.

The Approach

Complete album production workflow from initial planning meetings through to final delivery. Recorded, mixed and mastered in 8 weeks, creating a cohesive sonic identity across all 10 tracks.

"Wandering/Wondering" by Powfu & Plxntkid

The Story

I'd heard of Powfu on YouTube and wanted to get a track together and see if he would feature. Backing track was created using Logic Pro X and internal plugins to match the vibe of his current music. Track emailed through to Powfu who loved it and got Plxntkid to feature.

The Approach

A truly international collaboration. The song was created in Birmingham, England, sent to USA for Powfu to record vocal, and sent to Finland for Plxntkid to finish his verse. Seamless remote collaboration across three countries.

"Runaway" by Ali Gilbert

The Story

Ali Gilbert got in touch with Guest House Audio to work on a new single. This was the first of many songs we would go on to record and create with Ali Gilbert. Recording of the instrumentation all took place at a studio in Birmingham and then vocal recording at the Guest House Audio mixing room.

The Approach

Ali Gilbert was great on this project as he allowed us to be fully collaborative in the process. Maximising the chances of the project being successful through open communication and creative partnership.

"Over and Over" by Thomas Harris

The Story

Birmingham artist Thomas Harris came to us wanting to record a new EP. Thomas' style is very unique featuring walls of reverb creating an atmospheric vibe. This EP was recorded completely live - all of the tracks on this EP are all one take.

The Approach

Spending the day recording, we sat down and went through the best takes and edited. The process took about 7 days from start to finish for the entire EP. A true testament to capturing authentic live performance energy.

"Stuck" by The Attics

The Story

The Attics came to Guest House Audio to record their debut EP. "Stuck" was the first single we recorded from the band that had influences such as Arctic Monkeys, which really comes across in their music.

The Approach

The consultation stage started with understanding band members, instruments, and additional layers Guest House Audio would need to add. After getting a ghost track down of guitar and vocal with layered drums, we removed the ghost track and then layered guitars with rhythm and lead, followed by vocals. "Stuck" was recorded in a day and then took several hours to perfect in mixing and mastering.

Indie Rock/Acoustic Recording & Mixing

"Tons" by Joe Jury

The Story

Joe Jury is an indie rock artist from London who wanted to take on the challenge of an acoustic EP. We recorded this at Ealing Studios in London, capturing an authentic live performance feel.

The Approach

We wanted to keep this really simple and give it a kind of live feel. We did this by multi-tracking the guitars, really focusing on the fretboard sounds and even placing microphones underneath the stool to get that live atmosphere. Mixing took place at Guest House Audio where we kept it really simple on this project. From start to finish, Joe was perfect and was open to suggestions from us.
